  I’m probably more excited about this than I should be. Our olive groves are very young and the yield was tiny. As I explained in this post, that relegated our crop to the community press at the local Olive Press. So this Two Terrier product is actually a blend of olives from all the small producers who contributed to this batch.

  Every year I mean to do photographic justice to San Francisco’s famous “Christmas House”, and every year I fail. The house is just such a popular holiday sight that, if you are driving, you can only cruise by as the streets are filled with families and children and other spectators marveling at the sight. I always mean to hike up out of Noe Valley to the top of the highest hill overlooking the Castro with my camera, and every year I get too busy.

  Not even half way in and I’ve blown NaBloPoMo. (In case you don’t know, NaBloPoMo is a group project where bloggers try to post every day for a full calendar month. I made it in November, which was official National Blog Posting Month.) No post yesterday. I won’t try to give my excuses, I don’t have a doctor’s note. But I’m not going to be a NaBloPoMo drop out.

  Every now and then, I come across an idea or a product that makes being all virtuous and green so easy and painless that you feel like you’ve cheated.  A perfect example is the Amazing Penguin Water Carbonator. Seriously, this is the most incredible gadget I’ve bought since. . .oh, the iPod. Except that everyone and his brother has an iPod, maybe two, and the iPod doesn’t have the added advantage of making you feel marvelously Greener-Than-Thou.

  It’s been iffy as to whether I’d make the Las Vegas Marathon I’d signed up for. The plane tickets were booked and the rooms were reserved, so we went ahead and made the trip. But I’d wrenched my back picking grapes a few months ago and had stopped ALL training as of then. (I know STUPID. STUPID.) Recently that old “harvest injury” has been acting up, and by Friday and Saturday, my back was in spasms about every ten minutes.

  Still basking in my sense of accomplishment from completing NaBloPoMo, I’m now searching for other areas of my life I can revolutionize by committing to a 30 day program. After all, there is something magical about that number or thereabouts. I once heard a life coach swear that it only took 28 days of dedication to something to make it a habit. I suppose it’s no coincidence that drug and alcohol rehab places have 28 day programs.

  In yesterday’s post, I responded to the first Blog Meme I’ve ever received. It was a fun challenge to come up with six random facts about myself then pass the link on. But the best part was the requirement that I link to six other bloggers and leave a comment on their blogs. That lead to a lot of “cross-pollination” where readers of this blog went to those blogs, those blog’s readers came here and we all found some new reading material.

  A strange, but sadly not uncommon incident, dusted up yesterday in the Blogisphere that’s going to cause me to launch into one of my “mind your manners” lectures.It started with this post by Tech Marketing Guru and Alltop co-founder, Guy Kawasaki, about How to Use Twitter as a Twool. (If you don’t know of or use Twitter, the microblogging social network, you may want to skip down to the lecture, as it pertains to the whole Internet, not just Twitter.

  I’m in a bit of a funk today and casting around for topics. The answer is, as the Muppets would say (channeling Auntie Mame), “We need a little Christmas right this very minute!” Yes, it’s time for me to go back to my astoundingly large, amazingly eclectic and somewhat embarrassing collection of Christmas music and pull out more undiscovered gems to augment those I told you about in this post and this post.
