Who knew! I'll have to see if my son's school has mentioned anything about Native American Heritage Month. Of course, being he is a middler schooler, I will most likely hear: "I dunno."

I always learn something on your blog.

Ann Richards was quite a character. I bet that is a great documentary.

I had no idea it was Native American Month! I've seen some of those series you mentioned - and you're right, viewing them more than once is a good idea, because you do get more from just a one-time viewing. I've always had a fascination for learning more because my great-great grandmother on my mom's side was from the Winnebago tribe. My great-grandparents from my dad's side are full-blooded Swede, but my grandmother's grandmother on my dad's side is full-blooded Cherokee. Interesting mix! :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog - you're so right about only being able to make fine wine out of the best grapes. Which is why I ended up planting a mini vineyard of top-grade grapes in the Back 40 so I could make much better wine than I was getting from the ancient vine... :) And yes, 'dumb luck' does play a part more often than not! LOL!! :)

Been to Reservations from the East Coast to Texas to extensively in the West. Yes, a lot of poverty although things are getting better. The Navajos who have have been entrepreneurs from day one were one of the exceptions. Used to live next to the Navajo reservation in Arizona. And at the Hopi Reservation, they may not have material wealth but a strong community and incredible spiritual strength.

Have you ever been to an Indian reservation? I have from Arizona to Montana. Very depressing. Poorer than poor.
