Hectic day today which started with a very pregnant friend, for whom I am back up birth coach, calling to say there was a possibility that the baby would come TODAY (three weeks early.) Actually, I’ve been recruited, not so much for the sake of Mom and the baby, but to watch out for the father-to-be. He’s a dear friend and my former business partner. But this is a guy who used to go into a near faint when a woman employee mentioned the word Tampon. So all this birth stuff is really freaking him out. I’m supposed to be on hand to make sure I can hold his hand and talk him into his Happy Place once all this birthin’ babies stuff starts.
Long story short, this premature labor thing turned out to be a false alarm, but not before I’d called in the airstrike, which consisted of telling the diaper service to drop a load of cloth diapers ASAP.
Meanwhile, my husband was dealing with a STAR ENCOUNTER so exciting that he was nearly in the stratosphere. And unfortunately couldn’t reach me to tell me all about it as I was coordinating possible birth strategies.

Andy explains to Roger Craig how Flash memory, custom cases and power supplies are made for high-end gaming machines.
Roger Craig, 49ers legend and on the short list for Hall of Fame this year, came to my husband’s company this afternoon for a tour.
Let me back up. Several years ago, for a key anniversary (maybe the tenth and also a key revenue goal) my husband had a special blow-out Christmas party to celebrate. He contracted with Roger Craig as a motivational speaker. But we all joked that he’d basically hired Craig to be his best friend for the day. In any case, the usual drill with these sports stars is they come and give a sort of coach-speak sort of inspirational speech at the Christmas dinner and shake hands all around.

Roger Craig graciously signs footballs for the nerd squad at the company. I mean the geniuses who dream up and design these products.
Roger Craig did so much more. He actually researched the company and gave a great speech to the company about achievements where he referenced REAL company benchmarks with very thoughtful and spot-on references and analogies to how the Forty Niners had overcome the same sort of odds to achieve the same sorts of things. We chalked it up to him being a smart guy and consummate professional.
Then this year, we were at the opening of the San Francisco Symphony and ran into him. He remembered Andy and the company and said he’d love to come by and see what was going on. Next thing you know, he’s calling up for an appointment, and showing up for the tour today.
It’s all related. He’s got several NFL related computer games out, Andy’s company is big in the gaming industry and Roger is clearly a guy that wants to know the ins and outs of it all.
Which didn’t make Andy any less of a star-struck kid when the great Roger Craig showed up.
Probably the only thing that could have upstaged the almost birth of our Godchild.
OK, 1 OMG about the baby…you know I kept having feelings I should call here yesterday.
2. coolness about Roger Craig
