We own Smooth Fox Terriers. We are the elite. These are the most elegant dogs in the world. So, of course, we have a never ending appetite for dog art. Specifically renderings of Smooth Fox Terriers. It’s always a good weekend when we find more dog art. The trick is most artists don’t get the nose right. It’s got to be long long long. And even though Oscar’s ears would keep him out of the showroom, we think they are cute. But a proper Smooth Fox Terrier should have folded ears. Lucy had them, but they are popping up with age. So we are going to be flexible on the ears. But we like to find dog art where the proportions are right.

Let’s take a second look at the Smooth Fox Terrier conformation. Such as it is with our scruffy country terriers.

Then there is this sort of thing. I think it’s supposed to be a coyote. But we are calling it a Smooth Fox Terrier.
Cute little dogs, all of them. Our Cora is a mix of border collie and German shepherd (we think) and, of course, we think she’s the most beautiful dog in the world. But I’ve never seen any art that looks anything like her.
Miss Lucy looks a bit affronted!
The most elegant dogs in the world, yes! We think Django’s very Astaire-ish in that regard but inside that debonair exterior lurks the anarchic heart of Groucho. I have two favorite art pieces: one is a limited edition print of an Oscar lookalike who’s either poised to play or attack. It’s called “Baxter.” Hmmmm… The other is an adorable anatomically correct ceramic begging terrier, found in a dusty window in Paris. The muzzle’s a little short, but the liquid brown eyes are just right.
